ReNEW is a mental health support and consultancy service developed by local women, with the aim of improving the lives of women impacted by abuse, disempowerment, and trauma. There are two pathways to access the service: referral (through a professional/service), or direct private booking. Private bookings can be requested directly through the enquiry form, where you can provide contact details for one of our therapists to arrange a consultation with you and discuss the support we offer, how best to provide this, and the fees associated with the service. For non-private referrals, the team are currently offering services to women based in the Teesside area (Stockton-On-Tees, Hartlepool, Redcar & Cleveland, Darlington, & Middlesbrough). Women residing within this catchment area looking for support and advice regarding their mental health, social circumstance, or additional needs can request a referral to be submitted by a professional or associated service. Once the referral has been received we will arrange an initial assessment appointment to discuss your treatment priorities and formulate an individualised plan of support should you meet our referral criteria, or offer signposting if we feel another service may be more appropriate. When considering our referral criteria we will look at the following areas:
Ø How imminently do you need support?
Ø Is psychological therapy the most appropriate intervention?
Ø What other support do you have available to you?
Ø Are you, or anybody associated with you, at risk from yourself or another person?
Ø Do you have additional, intersectional needs that we should consider (social deprivation, homelessness, neurodiversity, cultural or ethnic minority, physical ailment, gender transition etc)?
Ø Is private therapy an option for you based on your current means, or are you covered by an insurance provider?
Ø Are you in immediate danger and do you need signposting to social support services or police?
Ø Do you have any dependants with whom you need additional support?
Ø Are you currently involved/at risk of being involved with the criminal justice system?
The above considerations, amongst those which relate to your treatment priorities will be considered on an individual basis. This will allow the team to consider what the best plan of support will be, be that with ourselves, or with a partnering service, with reference to our Trauma Informed Women's Empowerment Framework (TI-WEF).
The framework ensures interventions, advice, and coaching are provided in a manner which allows you to develop strategies that are sustainable, and care is collaboratively planned both with yourself and partnering community services aiming to work together to build a life worth living and a future free from abuse and the legacy of trauma and disempowerment.
